Lunch in Picturesque Pitumarca

We’ll stop for a hearty lunch in the charming town of Pitumarca, refueling for the exciting day ahead.

Trailhead Arrival in Quesoyuni (4,326 m / 14,189 ft)

After lunch, we continue to Quesoyuni, the starting point of our trek. Take in the crisp mountain air as you prepare to step onto the trail.

Village Trek & Wildlife Encounters (Approx. 3–4 hours hiking)

Begin your hike through traditional Andean villages, where you’ll have the chance to meet local residents and perhaps spot chinchillas and wandering vicuñas—the wild, graceful relatives of the llama.

Arrival at Llamachimpana Camp (Highest Elevation: 4,598 m / 15,082 ft)

After a rewarding 3–4 hour trek covering about 4 km (2 ½ miles), we’ll arrive at our campsite near the village of Llamachimpana.

Starry Night & Restful Sleep

As night falls, settle into camp and enjoy a tranquil night beneath a blanket of stars, surrounded by mountain serenity.

Rainbow Mountain Sunrise Ascent

5:00 AM – Early Start

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on an exhilarating ascent of Vinicunca, also known as Rainbow Mountain. Marvel at the vibrant, multicolored slopes and panoramic views of the soaring Andes—a photographer’s dream come true.

Red Valley Viewpoint Adventure

Venture onward to the spectacular Red Valley, just 30 minutes from Rainbow Mountain. The valley’s surreal crimson landscapes offer a riveting contrast and unforgettable photo opportunities.

Scenic Lagoon Descent

Start your descent along a stunning path that traverses two serene lagoons: Cochayoc and Yanacocha. Immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty, with high mountain vistas as your backdrop, during this three-hour trek back to Llamachimpana.

Well-Deserved Local Lunch

At Llamachimpana, savor a delicious local lunch, recharging body and spirit after an unforgettable morning filled with natural wonders.
