After being collected from your hotel in La Paz at the scheduled time, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Rurrenabaque. Upon arrival in Rurrenabaque, you will be taken directly to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure, allowing you to settle in and prepare for the upcoming Amazon exploration.

Rurrenabaque serves as a gateway to the Bolivian Amazon and is known for its proximity to Madidi National Park.

You will be picked up from your hotel at 8:30am and begin a three-hour boat journey along the Beni and Tuichi rivers, taking in the scenic views as you approach Madidi National Park. Upon arrival at the ecolodge around 11:30am, you will be welcomed with a refreshing glass of fruit juice and given time to rest. 

After lunch, you will set out on the "dry creek" trail, where you can observe a wide variety of plants and learn about their uses for medicine, crafts, and construction. With some luck, you may spot monkeys, peccaries, birds, and numerous insects during the walk. The day concludes with dinner at the lodge, followed by time to relax.

Madidi National Park is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and is considered one of the most biologically rich areas on the planet.

At 8:00am, you will set off on a moderately challenging walk to the Cliff of the Macaws, one of Madidi National Park’s prime locations for observing macaws, parrots, and other bird species. Along the way, you will pass enormous trees and learn about their various uses. Upon reaching the cliff, you can watch the birds and take in sweeping views of the Amazon Basin and its rivers. Around 10:30am, you will head to the Tuichi River, where you have the opportunity to construct a log raft, a traditional mode of Amazonian transport, and float downstream for about two hours back to the ecolodge. A support boat will accompany you for safety, to carry backpacks, and for those who prefer not to raft. 

The afternoon is free for you to rest or choose an optional activity such as making traditional handicrafts or fishing.

The Cliff of the Macaws is a notable site in Madidi, attracting large numbers of colourful birds, especially during the early morning.

After breakfast, you will depart Madidi and make your way back to Rurrenabaque. Around 9:00am, you will leave for Santa Rosa in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle, with chances to see sloths, anteaters, birds, and other animals along the roadside. At approximately 11:30am, you will board a boat for a 15-minute journey to the eco-lodge “The Turtles,” where you are greeted with a cold seasonal fruit juice and served lunch. 

At 2:30pm, you will head out on a boat trip to search for pink dolphins, with the possibility of swimming with them depending on conditions. Throughout the boat journey, you may also spot birds, turtles, alligators, and other animals, which vary by season.

The Pampas region is famous for its open wetlands, providing excellent opportunities to observe Amazonian wildlife in their natural habitat.

At 8:30am, you will set out on a short walk in the pampas to look for the impressive anaconda, depending on the season. 

After the walk, you will have lunch at the eco-lodge before returning to Rurrenabaque. From there, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to La Paz, where your Amazon adventure concludes.

The search for anacondas in the pampas highlights the region’s rich reptile diversity and the unique ecosystems of the Bolivian Amazon.
